Public Housing for Seniors
Each development was designed and built with your needs in
mind. Spacious, unfurnished apartments give you room to have the
things around you that make it a home. Efficiencies and
one-bedroom units are available. Each apartment is a private
living environment including a full-size kitchen equipped with basic
appliances. With some restrictions, small pets are allowed, so you
may bring that special family member. Our Centers' main dining
rooms are pleasantly decorated and provide a healthy noon meal each
day. Every Senior Center development has its own community center
with a full-time director for planned activities.
These activities include social activities, arts and crafts, exercise
classes, workshops, worship and Bible study classes, adult education
classes and lectures. The Community Centers also provide
transportation to nearby shopping centers, medical facilities,
entertainment events and tours.
If you like the outdoors, take a stroll on the many walking paths or
enjoy a restful moment at one of the many seating areas located around
the grounds. Our Centers' large and comfortable community lounge
areas provide the opportunity to make new friends or meet friends and
family.
You get special attention
Many Oklahoma City organizations work with the OCHA to provide the
support services necessary to assess and continually meet each
individual's needs. Each Senior Center has a full-time on-site
staff that is dedicated to ensuring you have access to all the help and
services available. These services include: information and
referral, transportation, facilitation of health services, adult
education, individual and group counseling, outreach and companionship.
If you are disabled or handicapped, several of our apartments are
specially equipped to provide you with as free a lifestyle as
possible. All Senior Center developments are designed to be
disabled or handicapped accessible throughout the facility.
Security is peace of mind
Feeling secure covers many areas, and the OCHA has taken care to see
that our residents have peace of mind. We have our own uniformed
security force and armed officers on roving patrol 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. In addition, eight-foot iron fences are used to limit
entry onto the grounds. Each Center is equipped with an automatic
sprinkler system in case of fire.
Emergency call buttons are located in each apartment, and we use the
"Buddy System" to help residents get acquainted and regularly
check on their neighbors. Our Centers are also located close to
medical facilities. Requests for maintenance are handled quickly,
so our residents don't have to worry about not having full use of the
facilities.
