What is Public Housing?
Public housing is a government-assisted housing program established to provide decent, safe, and affordable rental homes for eligible low-income families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities in Oklahoma City that are owned and managed directly by the Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA).

How does it work?

Rent is based on your household's income and family circumstances. When calculating your rent, OCHA considers any eligible deductions allowed under program guidelines. Each year, OCHA reviews your household information to help ensure your rent does not exceed 30% of your adjusted monthly income. If your household size or income changes during the year, you may request an interim review to determine whether your rent should be adjusted.

OCHA's family apartment communities and scattered site homes are located across the Oklahoma City metro area. These apartment complexes provide safe, affordable housing for working families, seniors raising grandchildren, and other types of households. OCHA residents have access to affordable housing options that meet their needs, along with supportive services, educational programs, workforce development, youth enrichment, and other community resources.

Each property has an independent Resident Association that works closely with management to support family living, communal spaces and build strong, connected neighborhoods.

Senior Properties

The Oklahoma City Housing Authority’s senior apartment communities provide safe, affordable, and accessible housing that enables older adults and individuals with documented disabilities to live independently, age in place, and thrive with dignity. With properties located across the metro, OCHA’s affordable, independent living communities serve all of Oklahoma City.

Each senior property offers:

Planned activities and events led by a full-time community director,

Comfortable community gathering areas
Outdoor spaces with walking paths

OCHA Program staff are dedicated to ensuring residents have access to all available assistance and services such as program information and referrals, transportation, connection to health services, adult education, individual and group counseling, community outreach, and personal companionship.

All Senior properties are designed to be ADA accessible throughout the facility, and many apartments are specially equipped to provide accommodate needs of adults with disabilities.
