Service Coordinators

The Oklahoma City Housing Authority provides Service Coordinators at each Senior Citizen Community. Service Coordinators assist residents to obtain services which can enrich their lives while living independently and postpone the need to move to nursing facilities.  Examples of services, Service Coordinators might assist with include:

  • Budgeting assistance
  • Health services
  • Non-clinical counseling
  • Personal care
  • Housekeeping
  • Social activities
  • Assistance with service providers

Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma

Provides supplemental groceries for our residents at each Senior Citizen Community

Metropolitan Library System

Provides books for resident's use at all of our senior properties.

Drug and Crime Hot-Line

In January, 1989, the Oklahoma City Housing Authority established a special Hot-Line.  By calling 232-OCHA, residents may report any resident or unit they believe is involved in any illegal activity.  Callers may remain anonymous.

Oklahoma City Housing Authority Protective Services

OCHA recognized the need for a security patrol as a preventative maintenance measure and the OCHA Security Department was established in 1974.  Security is provided through uniformed guards who patrol on a regular basis to maintain a safe living environment for adults and children.  A centralized phone number will secure assistance at any time, day or night.  (405) 232-1041.

Areawide Aging Agency Services/Senior Nutrition

Provides meal programs for McGuire Plaza, The Towers, Classen, Candlelake, Andrews Square, and Hillcrest Senior Community Centers.  The programming also includes:

  • Facilitation of health services
  • Adult education
  • Recreation and free-time activities
  • Outreach and companionship

An Activity Director is available each weekday for 6 hours.

Daily Living Center

Operates an Adult Day Service Center for residents of Wyatt F. Jeltz Senior Center and McGuire Plaza.  Residents who chose to participate have health needs monitored, transportation, recreation, wellness events, daily nutrition, and social activites.

Entrusted Hearts (Baptist Village Communities)

Provides wellness checks and free medical consultations for residents of Wyatt F. Jeltz Senior Center andMcGuire Plaza.

Oklahoma City Community College

Operates computer labs with free internet access within the Andrews Square, Reding, Shartel Towers, and HillcrestSenior Centers.

Salvation Army Senior Centers

The Salvation Army has been working with the Oklahoma City Housing Authority since 1972 in providing support services for residents of Shartel Towers, Danforth, and Reding Senior Centers.  The support services provided include the following:

  • Information and referral
  • Meal Program
  • Transportation
  • Facilitation of health services
  • Adult education
  • Recreation and free-time activities
  • Outreach and companionship

A full-time center director is on-site.
