Senior Services

The Oklahoma City Housing Authority provides Service Activity Coordinators at each of our Senior Communities to support residents in living independently, safely, and with dignity. These coordinators help connect residents to services and programs that promote a healthy, engaged lifestyle.

Service Activity Coordinators assist by removing barriers to independence and offering guidance to access vital resources in the community. This helps residents maintain independence, improve their well-being, and continue to live active, fulfilling lives while aging in place.

Food Bank 2 FB

In collaboration with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Food Connection is a program within the Resident Services Department that provides food stability to senior residents. There is food pantries located at three senior properties within the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. Some of our most vulnerable residents are allowed access to shop at these pantries to select groceries at a designated time each week.

If you do not have a pantry located at your property, please call *211  to locate the food pantry nearest to you.

Transportation Services

Each week, residents are taken on shopping trips, to doctor appointments, out for fun in the community, and more at our John H. Johnson living center! Having access to a bus thanks to OCHA’s partnership with Embark through a Section 5310 grant means these residents get to continue living full lives and participate in the community. The bus operates Monday through Friday for residents of John H. Johnson.

These services are designed to meet the unique mobility needs of seniors who may have limited access to other forms of private or public transportation.  This service helps residents maintain their independence and stay connected to their community.

Examples of trips provided include:

  • Medical Appointments
  • Grocery Stores
  • Social Activities
OCHA’s goal is to ensure every ride supports wellness and quality of life.
